Yourtrust,writtenin full.
We built Open Justice on a promise of confidentiality. This page is that promise, in plain terms — every clause, every commitment, nothing hidden behind fine print.
Six things we promise before the small print.
If you only have thirty seconds, read these. Every promise below is spelled out in full in the policy underneath.
No training on your chats.
We don't store your conversations for machine learning, and we don't feed them into any model we own or license.
Lawyer chats are privileged.
Conversations with a verified lawyer on Open Justice are confidential and protected by legal professional privilege under Australian law.
Resolved chats delete in 7 days.
Once a matter is marked resolved, the full conversation is automatically removed from our systems inside a week — no retention clause buried in fine print.
Your lawyer owns their file.
Lawyers independently maintain your client file under the Legal Profession Uniform Law. You can request records from them directly.
AI uses OpenAI's API.
Our automated responses are generated via the OpenAI GPT API. OpenAI's Privacy Policy applies to any input processed on their systems.
Account details stay minimal.
If you register, we keep your name, email and billing so you can log in, pay, and get support. That's it — never sold, never rented, never used for ads.
Every clause, in plain English.
